Book Review: Animal Heads By Vanessa Mooncie

Hello Lovelies!
After the success of my last book revue (Animal Friends of Pica Pau by Yan Schenkel) I thought I'd get the camera out and have a look through another amazing book!

Today I'm taking a peak at Animal Heads, trophy heads to crochet by Vanessa Mooncie.
I just love this book! To have a proper moment to sit down in front of the camera and share its full glory with you, was something that I was more than excited to do!

As many of you know, I've worked up some of the patterns from the book and have blogged about them (Lion blog post can be found here and zebra blog post can be found here), The patterns are so fun too make and produce some really lovely and rather unique results.

I've put together this review to share a little more about the book, it's patterns and pretty much everything else there is to know! I rabbit on for a good 40 minutes, so I think I covered everything :-)

Check out the video below and make up your own mind on the book, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Other Products Featured In The Book Review

Well another book put through it's paces and scrutinised by the likes of my hooky hands! I hope you enjoyed!
I'll be back with another book review shortly. Have suggestions on a book you would like me to take a look at? .... Just let me know.

Finally as I mentioned in my last book review: I just wanted to end this post by making it clear, that these reviews are entirely own, as in I haven't been asked or paid to make them...They are purely some fun as I share my opinion, a way (I hope) of informing others about interesting books available to us as crafters.

Enjoy your sunny Sunday and have a great start to next week!

  1. I am really loving these vlogs of yours, Matt! It's a wonderful chance to "meet" you and hear your wonderfully creative, crafty thoughts. I bought Vanessa Mooncie's book having been so inspired by your projects (though it took me a lot of courage to buy the yarn and get into it!). I made the swan (https://www.ravelry.com/projects/ThommyK/swan) and it is possibly the crochet project I am most proud of! And I can't wait to make the lion or the zebra next. I just have a slight worry that when I made the swan, I became SO addicted that I just couldn't stop - when I wasn't working on it (which was rare), I was thinking about it or dreaming about the next step. Looking forward to seeing your swan when it's done! All the best to you and can't wait for the next installment on this blog. :)

PS: Your tutorial video was invaluable for the shaping of the swan's body!
